Ok, folks, this is the stuff that I have been trying to make happen since before the Steampunk Con. After several casting mishaps, including doing great damage to my vacuum table, I finally have some new parts.
This is a pin. Both ovals rotate, and thus turn each other. the entire thing is about 1.25 inches long. I plan to make a ring with these ovals as well. These are silver, but my poor lighting makes them look brassy.
Here is another view, to show them turned a bit:
Colored gemstones are close to my heart, so I just had to make stacking rings that rotate each other too:
The faceted stone is a 6mm lab-grown sapphire, and the cabochon is an 8mm blue topaz. These are the first ones, and I can set many different stones into these. I can also make any size ring.
I'm so relieved to have these done, but I don't have many for stock. this weekend I'll be at the Mendocino Art Center Holiday Fair, and at least I will have a few to show. The oval pins are $65 ea, but I don't yet know what the rings will cost - I have to look up what I paid for the stones. More than $60, less than $100, but I'll need to calculate some stuff in the morning after I have had some sleep. I was just so excited I had to post. Woo-Hoo!
